Why choose Apex Learning for your homeschool high school curriculum needs? All Apex Learning curriculum provides students with a calendar, syllabus, and course instruction for resources and requirements. The schedule assists students in keeping on track to complete semester work within 18 weeks. The syllabus is another way to mark off completed assignments and see recorded progress daily. Immediate grade feedback is given, so that students can set milestones for completing work in advance and monitor themselves to know if they are keeping on track. Christian Educators Academy offers “flex” time, and will adjust dates for students in case of illness, travel, sports events, or personal needs, as long as each semester is completed within 5-6 months.
Teacher responses with Apex Learning: CEA maintains a strict policy that all material requiring instructor grading will be graded within a 24-48 hour period from the time of the student’s submittal, in order that students can complete their work in a timely fashion (Monday through Friday). The only exception to this are instructional holidays, and the mandatory 2 week Christmas break and 2 week summer vacation. Instructional holidays are clearly identified in the CEA handbook, and reminders are sent to all students starting two weeks prior to the holiday so that they can adjust their work schedule. If students do not hear from a teacher within 48 hours, they should contact the assistant director or director. Sometimes emails may not be received. We encourage you to resend work if this happens, giving the teacher the benefit of the doubt.
Apex Learning Weekly Reports, report cards, student progress: In addition to weekly email progress reports sent to parents, tutors or any other registration requested guardian, a written report is sent to parents on a quarterly basis. Transcripts are mailed the end of January and final grades are mailed the end June. CEA maintains a continuous tracking and monitoring system. The Director Student Services reviews and tracks every student in every class on a regular basis. The director will contact the student and their parents anytime the student is lagging their schedule by more than a week. The CEA director and instructors will work with the student and their parents to help the student to get back on track, and find solutions to time-management issues. CEA may adjust an individual student’s schedule to accommodate personal needs, provided that the student adheres to the requirements of the curriculum.
Apex Learning Course completion: CEA follows the Apex criteria for course completion. Students must take the proctored final exam or mid-term per semester, before grades are issued in the subjects of English, math, history and science. AT the teacher’s discretion, grades can be modified within a few points to add for extra credit assignments, or extra essay requirements previously determined. Student is eligible to move to the 2nd semester of the course ONLY after the 1st semester work and grade has been issued. Some subjects have prerequisites.
