Online school students at CEA are encouraged to take outside electives, including Physical Education, participate in organized sports and serve their community
Middle School Physical Education
To complete online homeschool, middle school students should have 45 hours of Physical Education each year. They can accomplish this by participating in an organized sport, or by logging their own regular physical activity. The attached form outlines the requirements, provides a grading form for the parent to fill-out, and a log sheet of activities. Students participating on an organized team should send a letter from their coach.
High School Physical Education
Physical education contributes to a student’s online high school well-being and success and is an integral part of their education. Students can earn one PE credit for each year in high school if they participate in an organized team, or keep records of their physical activity – which can be a gym membership, gymnastics, dance, tennis, etc. The form below explains the requirements and how PE is graded, provides a log for activities, and has additional lessons and tests which are part of the PE grade. Students participating on an organized team need to submit a letter from their coach.
As an accredited online school, CEA requires all of its online high school and online homeschooling students to complete a total of 100 hours of community service before graduating. Students can volunteer in a variety of ways, including through their local church or a community service organization. In order to receive credit for community service, students need to not only complete the hours, but also write a 500-word essay, and be evaluated by a supervisor. Everything needed to receive credit for community service is explained in the attachment below.
Volunteer Match strengthens communities by making it easier for good people and good causes to connect. The organization offers a variety of online services to support a community of nonprofit, volunteer and business leaders committed to civic engagement. This popular service welcomes millions of visitors a year and has become the preferred Internet recruiting tool for more than 71,000 nonprofit organizations.
Career and Aptitude Testing
We recommend that all students in an online high school program take a career test. Knowing your personality and aptitude toward a particular career can help you choose which colleges you should apply to. Two suggestions are Career Key and Career Personality and Aptitude Tests
